Mini Jungle Terrarium Starter Kit – 5+ Gallon (Bioactive Ready)

I put this Mini Jungle kit together for small builds in the 5+ gallon range—starter aquariums converted to terrariums, small critter keepers, or compact display tanks. It’s everything you need to build a healthy, attractive planted setup, plus a starter clean-up crew to help keep it bioactive.

What you’ll receive (Small – 5+ gal):

·        1 small cork bark flat or feature piece – Hand-selected with good character for hardscape, hides, or a focal point.

·        Approximately 2–3 cups of my “Best Soil on Earth” terrarium substrate – Heat-treated and blended for drainage, structure, and root health.

·        Compressed dried sphagnum moss – 1 piece. When hydrated, this expands to roughly 2–3 cups. Use it in the root zone, as a moisture layer, or tucked around hardscape.

·        Clean, prepped leaf litter – For that forest-floor look and as food/cover for your microfauna.

·        A small clump of moss or ground cover – To soften edges and fill in bare spots.

·        1–2 hardy plant cuttings – I choose proven terrarium species (often pothos, nerve plants, etc.), based on what’s thriving that week.

·        Clean-up crew: 1 container of mixed isopods and springtails – A combined starter culture of mixed isopod species with springtails to help break down waste, mold, and decaying organics in your small bioactive setup.

·        A straightforward setup and care guide written by me.

Best for:

·        5+ gallon aquariums converted to terrariums.

·        Small glass tanks, critter keepers, and compact desk builds.

·        First bioactive-style projects or low-maintenance display pieces.

I personally prep, portion, and pack each kit so you’re not guessing what to buy or how much you need for a 5-gallon-class build. You get the same type of components and clean-up crew I use in my own small bioactive displays—just scaled to fit.
