Indoor Biosphere Classic – 10–20 Gallon Bioactive Starter Kit
This is the size I recommend most often. The Indoor Biosphere Classic kit is portioned specifically for standard 10–20 gallon aquariums and similar-sized enclosures, and it comes ready for a bioactive clean-up crew so the system can stabilize and maintain itself over time.
What you’ll receive (Medium – 10–20 gal):
· 1 medium cork bark feature piece – Chosen with shape and texture in mind so it can anchor your layout.
· About 2 gallons of my “Best Soil on Earth” terrarium substrate – Roughly 8 quarts / 32 cups of substrate, enough for proper planting depth in a 10–20 gallon footprint, with room for slopes and elevation changes.
· Compressed dried sphagnum moss – 1 sheet (approximately 3" x 7"). Hydrates to around 1 gallon of fluffy sphagnum. Ideal for high-moisture zones, root wrapping, background pockets, and blending into the substrate where you want extra water retention.
· Extra leaf litter and moss – To cover exposed soil, feed microfauna, and finish the forest-floor look.
· 5 plant cuttings – A mix of trailing and upright plants I’ve already tested in terrarium and vivarium conditions.
· Clean-up crew: 2 containers of mixed isopods and springtails – Two separate containers with mixed isopod species and springtails, giving you enough clean-up crew to comfortably seed a 10–20 gallon bioactive environment.
· Optional small decor stone or accent (when available).
· A step-by-step setup and care guide based on how I actually build and maintain tanks in this size range.

Best for:
· 10 gallon and 20 gallon aquariums used as planted terrariums or vivariums.
· Medium display tanks and desktop showpieces.
· Hobbyists who want a fuller, more mature bioactive look right from the start.
I design this kit to properly supply a 10–20 gallon class build—substrate, structure, plants, and clean-up crew. You’re not just getting materials; you’re getting a layout and stocking plan that comes from real-world builds.
